Your health matters to us
Chiropractic is not just an investment for your back; it is an investment for your overall health. Without even knowing it, many Americans suffer from misaligned vertebrae, known as subluxations.
Subluxations are usually painless because only a small percentage of the nerves that make up the nervous system are responsible for pain and pleasure. The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord, and spinal nerves connecting throughout the body and tissues. Thus, this system controls and coordinates every cell in the body. The human body cannot express optimal health with subluxations, which hinder clear, healthy pathways for the nervous system.
Choosing a Drug-Free Solution
Chiropractic is a drug-less profession. The role of the chiropractor is to detect spinal misalignments, called subluxations. These subluxations cause interference in the nervous system. When Dr. Hess analyzes the spine and detects that a spinal subluxation is present, she will perform an adjustment. The adjustment is designed to correct the spine's alignment and remove the interference of the brain-to-body connection. Restoring the brain-to-body connection enhances the function of the body's ability to function at its maximum potential.
What causes subluxations?
Stresses in the body cause subluxations. These stresses can be emotional, chemical, or physical.
Most of the nerve system has nothing to do with pain or pleasure. Therefore, subluxations can be present for years and sometimes decades before symptoms occur.
What happens during my appointment?
My role as a chiropractor is to analyze and detect vertebral subluxations. Dr. Hess uses neural thermography gait analysis, imaging, postural analysis and physical examination with sacral-occipital assessment technique to establish a higher, specific diagnosis. She then can target her treatments to correct spinal and extremity subluxations using various techniques such as Cox Flexion Distraction, Activator Drop Table and manual adjustments. Many find chiropractic adjustments relieve a spectrum of ailments such as back/neck pain, headaches, menstrual cramps, allergies, asthma, stomach disorders, gastric motility, and arm, hand, and leg pain due to interference in the spinal cord or the nerves exiting the spine. In essence, Chiropractics addresses the whole body function.
Taking all medical history into account
A chiropractor will take a medical history and conduct physical, neurological, and orthopedic examinations. Chiropractic physicians spend a considerable amount of time assessing posture, examining the spine, and testing reflexes, joint motion, and muscle strength. Hess Performance and Family Chiropractic often uses X-rays and other diagnostic images to locate vertebral dysfunction and to rule out disorders like tumors or fractures, which require the attention of other health care experts.
